Loneliness is a global problem affecting people of all ages. According to the World Health Organization, one in six people worldwide suffers from it, which can sometimes have serious consequences for physical and mental health. This episode examines the topic of loneliness specifically from the perspective of refugees, who are particularly affected by lack of communication, language barriers, and discrimination. In Germany, around one-fifth of refugees feel lonely very or very often.

Fortunately, meeting places and projects create opportunities for exchange and strengthen integration and social cohesion. During the program, those affected and an employee of one project is BENN Marzahn Süd in Berlin talk about their experiences

In the second hour of the program, Radio Connection interviewed Hamza and Abbas Kabbani, two brothers from Aleppo who have lived in Berlin since 2015 and founded the Darawish band. Through the oud, tambourine, and a blend of Arabic, Turkish, Iranian, and other melodies, they bridge cultures, tell stories from Syria and Berlin, and create spaces for encounter. Their music transcends language barriers, reflects political and social issues, and invites audiences to participate and interact.
